Carbon dioxide removal–What’s worth doing? A biophysical and public need perspective

چکیده
Carbon dioxide removal (CDR) has become a focal point for legislators and policymakers who are pursuing strategies climate change mitigation. This paper employs policy framework of collective biophysical need to examine two broad categories CDR methods being subsidized advanced by the United States other countries: mechanical capture biological sequestration. Using published data on these methods, we perform input-outcome analysis, focusing U.S., compare basis three criteria: effectiveness at net carbon removal, efficiency climate-relevant scale, beneficial adverse co-impacts. Our findings indicate that have superior return resource inputs in comparison methods. Biological both more effective efficient achieving scale CO2 removal. Additionally, co-impacts largely positive, while those negative. also far less expensive. Despite their disadvantages track record failure date, continue receive large subsidies from US government sequestration do not. To achieve optimal outcomes, should evaluate methods’ effectiveness, efficiency, We present tools this purpose.

A Systems Perspective for Assessing Carbon Dioxide
Even as the acceptance of the fossil fuel greenhouse effect theory continues to grow amongst academics, statesmen and plebeians alike, the early adopters have already engaged in pre-emptive research activities aimed at mitigating the effects of such greenhouse gases. The focus of one such effort is on the capture and storage of CO2 (carbon dioxide) from anthropogenic fixed source emissions. Thi...

Parathyroid adenomas, or hyperplasia may be present in patients with hypercalcemia. Treatment Is by surgical excision, but about 10% of the lesions may be In ectopic locations. Pre-operative localization of the lesions with non-lvasive imaging, using radionuclides, ultrasound, CT, or MR], may simplify surgery, and reduce patient morbidity. However, the reports of the accuracy of the curre...

The era of Personalized Medicine implies getting the right treatment to the right patient at the right schedule and dose at the right time. Tumor biomarker tests are keys to accomplishing this goal successfully. However, much of the translational research regarding tumor biomarker tests has been haphazard, often using data and specimen sets of convenience and ignoring many of the principles of ...
متن کاملCarbon monoxide poisoning--a public health perspective.
Carbon monoxide (CO) may be the cause of more than one-half of the fatal poisonings reported in many countries; fatal cases also are grossly under-reported or misdiagnosed by medical professionals. Therefore, the precise number of individuals who have suffered from CO intoxication is not known. The health effects associated with exposure to CO range from the more subtle cardiovascular and neuro...
